The shawl Lindsey Fowler designed for Unwind 2025 is now available to everyone, and we have restocked our kits from Plies & Hellhounds just for the Conley Sisters!
From Lindsey's Ravelry page:
When I was planning for the Unwind Retreat in Kansas City, I was doing some research on famous sisters in Kansas City history to inspire my retreat pattern. I came across the Conley Sisters and knew these heroic women were the perfect
inspiration for a shawl. Lyda, Helena and Ida Conley protected the Wyandot National Burying Ground in the center of the city from being desecrated and developed. From 1906 to 1913, the sisters physically occupied the cemetery in
makeshift ‘Fort Conley’ and Lyda took the legal case all the way to the Supreme Court, becoming the first Native American Woman to argue a case before the Supreme Court . These 3 brave sisters are now buried together in that
very cemetery.
FINISHED SHAWL MEASUREMENTS: Approx. 84” long x 30” deep
Each kit is named for one of the sisters, and includes one skein of P&H Fig Lace and two skeins of Selkie yarn; pattern sold separately on Ravelry here.
