Spinning Classes

Add something new to your fiber arts making obsession!

Intro to Spinning (choose one of the following):

• January 5th, 5-7p
• February 2nd, 5-7p

Allow Marthe to introduce you to the wonderful world of hand spinning! From raw locks right off the sheep to finished yarn, come learn what spinning wool is all about. There is a lot to explore before we get to the actual spinning, but you will have the opportunity that evening to spin on a spindle and/or an actual wheel. No need to bring anything--spinning wheels, spindles, and fiber will be provided.

• February 9th, 5-7p

If you have a spinning wheel or spindle and need help getting started, this is the class for you, no experience needed! Marthe will go over drafting and twist, and get you spinning in no time. We will also discuss different fiber types and their characteristics, as well as the difference between worsted and woolen spinning. Bring your wheel and/or spindle, or use one provided by staff--we'll have our new selection of Schacht wheel available, along with the Dreaming Robots EEW 6.1 electric wheel.

Please take our Intro to Spinning class before registering for Next Steps. 

Color in Spinning (choose one of the following): 

• January 19th, 5-7p
• February 16th, 5-7p

We'll discuss different ways fiber is dyed, and the different options available to play with color. And as you hone your spinning skills, Marthe will be available to help you with any issues you might be having.

Please note--this is an advanced beginner class, participants should be familiar with spinning before registering.

Unless otherwise noted, all classes are in person at Unwind, limited to 5 persons, and all supplies are sold separately.
